Reconsider any travel plans to the Denver or Boulder Colorado for the time being.
PHOTOS: Massive flash flooding along Front Range of Colorado
Boulder Colorado sits in a high wide bowl at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and many streams and creeks amble down into the flood plain where the college town is located. Boulder Creek is the most prominent of these waterways. In the past 24 hours, Boulder Colorado has received more than 7.1 inches of rainfall, the most ever recorded in one day. Massive flooding has ensued, with flood waters drifting downhill into Denver and Aurora Colorado and spreading all along the front range. Sudden flash floods are a hazard which sometimes takes entire communities by surprise. Photos below courtesy of the Denver Post.
